Wisconsin's same-sex marriage ban could go to State Supreme Court

A lawsuit challenging Wisconsin's voter-approved constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage may be sent to the State Supreme Court. The suit states that the amendment was made through incorrect procedures, because it combined two separate issues (marriage and "legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals"). Under Wisconsin law, each referendum can address only one issue.
