The Dials are playing on friday at the high noon saloon. This group from milwaukee have a great stage show and Sound a lot like Sleater Kinney but with a more rocking style!
The show is this Friday, January 23, 2009 at 10:00pm the High Noon Saloon is at 701 E. Washington Ave in madison.
also at the high noon saloon the next day, Saturday, Jan 24th at 2:00 PM at is the Pillowpalooza 3 - with All proceeds from this event helping the A.S.A.N.A. Softball World Series.. Doors open at 1:00 PM, and fights start at 2:00 and go until 4:30. you can enjoy the campy good fun, cheer on your favorite fighters, and bribe the judges. in fact bribes are encouraged! There may be some opportunities for amateur fighters – making this a BYOP event.
a new Women's Health Group is starting up in madison. They'll be meeting at the Madison Infoshop every other Monday night from 7 to 8:30 (opposite Infoshop collective meetings) with different discussions/workshops each meeting. The first meeting is Monday, January 27th at 7 o'clock, where they'll be figuring out a facilitation schedule. workshop ideas include fertility awareness! , how to conduct a D.I.Y. cervical exam, and others. The group's organizers have done similar workshops in other cities. During these meetings, the Infoshop will be a women-, trans-, & intersex-only space.
and speaking of d.i.y. - it’s never too early to begin planning for the 2009 National Bash Back! Convergence. this year’s event is going to be held in chicago over the weekend of Thursday, May 28, 2009 THROUGH SUNDAY, May 31, 2009. the group is seeking folks to conduct Workshops around queer and trans liberation, anti-racism, confronting patriarchy, sex work, self defense, DIY mental and sexual health, radical history, or queer theory.

the "Keep WORT Wired" winter pledge drive is coming up. The drive will run from Feb. 8-21. We’re looking for a few good queery fans to sign up to answer phones during our shows on February 11th and 18th. It’s easy to do, by simply logging on to the WORT web site: at www.wort-fm.org or by calling 256-2001 during business hours and selecting the news block on those days.
